Adopt-A-Family Program

Dear Dixon Community;
As the holiday season approaches, it is time to remember those in our community who are financially unable to provide holiday gifts for their families. To help meet that need, Dixon Family Services (DFS) staff and volunteers work to connect these families with those who are willing to purchase gifts, new shoes, clothing and sometimes even a Christmas tree for the family. This “connection of donors and recipients” is called The Dixon Family Services Adopt-A-Family Program.
In past years, local families have been adopted by small businesses, local youth and adult service groups, large corporations, schools and churches. Families or individuals who would like to adopt a needy family are also encouraged to participate in the Adopt-a-Family Program.
Recipient families are screened by DFS staff and are required to complete a wish-list detailing the Christmas requests of family members. Each of these families is then “adopted” by an “adopter” who will then purchase, wrap and deliver the gifts no later than one week before Christmas. In some cases there may be a need for translation and DFS staff will arrange to help in that area when needed.
Adopting a family for Christmas is a very rewarding and hands-on way to share holiday cheer with the neediest among us. If your business or organization is interested in adopting a family for Christmas this year, please contact Sandy, Tammy or Marco at Dixon Family Services at (707) 678-0442 or Caitlin O’Halloran at (707) 301-7279. We will ask you a few questions and pair you with a family; the rest is up to you!

SO EASY!!!
