Audio Promo

Right around the corner Saturday night, June 23rd, Comedy Night will provide mouth-watering food, lots of laughter and prizes galore at Dixon’s “Funnest” Fund Raising Event of the year.

Tickets are still available at the time of writing this press release but don’t wait to get yours as they are selling fast.  You don’t want to miss this event.   A $40 donation covers admission into a dinner and professional Comedy Show.

The Headliner this year is Dan St. Paul who will be causing uncontrollable laughter.

The warm and friendly team of Sheila McCabe and Jack Caldwell are Masters of Ceremonies.

Tickets are available to purchase at Dixon Family Services, 155 North Second Street, The Dixon Tribune, 145 East A Street and Dixon Florist and Gifts, 150 East A Street.

Also included with your ticket is a delicious tri-tip dinner provided by Recology.  Other fun to enjoy includes a no-host bar and many raffle prizes to win.

This year the door prize is $200 cash and you do not have to be present to win.  Fill out the contact information on the ticket stub and turn in to DFS before the event.  You have a chance to win even if you cannot attend.

Dixon Family Services exists to provide people in the community with a large variety of services.  Established in 1984 the organization has since been a resource for anyone in need of information, referrals, basic needs, case management, mental health and substance abuse services, parenting and other life-skills workshops, support groups, a food pantry and to assist families and individuals who find themselves in situations that are negatively affecting their quality of life.

Thousands of people have managed to make life-altering changes with help from Dixon Family Services.  Fund raising events and donations are what enable DFS to provide individualized action/support plans for each family or individual seeking help.

Generous grants from Kaiser Permanente and Genentech keep our Mental Health Continuum of Care and Basic Needs Safety Net Programs funded and operational.  Partners such as The Church of Saint Martin, The Dixon United Methodist Church, Dixon’s Neighborhood Christian School, The Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation and many individuals in the community support and strengthen Dixon Family Services’ capability to serve parents and others who are struggling to provide food, utilities and shelter for their families.  The Solano County Board of Supervisors and Solano County Health and Social Services also provide funds for some of our family support services.

Representatives of other helping agencies such as the WIC Program, CalWORKs, Covered California, Section 8, Cal Fresh, Legal Services of Northern California and the Food Bank Fresh Produce Program all provide their services on the premises as well. Dixon Family Services is truly the “One-Stop-Shop” of human services for residents of Dixon under one roof.  All services are provided in both English and Spanish by caring and respectful staff members.

Sponsors of Comedy Night 2018 include Altec, Bud’s Pub & Grill, California Water, First Northern Bank, Recology and Travis Credit Union.  Many local businesses and individuals are responsible for a large array of raffle prizes and the complete list will be on the DFS website next week.

The annual fundraiser is planned and provided by the Dixon Family Services Board of Directors.  The current roster includes Sarah Villec, Jon Cox, Matt Swanson, Jack Caldwell, Brad Harms, Jerry Castañon, Laura Ziegler and Donny Everhart.  If you are interested in supporting Dixon Family Services as a board member, please speak with any of these good people or Cookie Powell to learn more.
