Dixon Family Services Thanks This Generous Community for the Opportunities to Make a Difference for Those Struggling

Since the beginning of the pandemic, many of our long-time donors increased their giving and we are very happy to have established various new partnerships.  Currently all of our funding comes from non-government grants, donations from businesses, corporations, foundations, churches and individuals.  We also appreciate that our supporters are willing to send us checks in order to offset the lost revenue from usual fund-raising events and related sponsorships until all restrictions are lifted and people feel safe in an indoor setting.  You can see a long list of our supporters and partners on our website on the “Donate/How to Help” page, www.DixonFamilyServices.org.   We have also been posting shout-outs to our donors on our Facebook and Instagram pages.  Please like and share us.

We are so very grateful for the generosity of those who maintain financial stability and want to help those who currently do not, and trust DFS as a method for that end.  We promise to be good stewards of your contributions, making practical decisions throughout our system of service delivery.  We have a prioritization process that puts families with young children in the home at the top, along with those that are struggling due to no or little fault of their own.  We do our best to help everyone who calls us for help.  If we don’t have what they need, or do not fit the requirements of fund sources we can access, we do the research to find another organization that might help them.

With our Basic Needs Program participants, we go through several steps in order to arrive at the best outcomes.  Steps include assessment, plans of action, explanation of expectations for client steps, monitoring of progress being made, measurement of outcomes, and follow-up after a period of weeks or months to see how they are doing.

Situations are handled on a case-by-case system, utilizing the best resources we can find at the time.   Our experience shows that levels of success are directly related to participant willingness to take steps in their action plans.  Accomplishing success is a group effort of DFS staff, client participants and, often times, one or more of our partner agencies’ involvements.

We expect our Basic Needs Program for rent, utilities and food to be a continued need for some time to come, and in 2022 we re-commit to our promise to do as much as we can, for as many as we can, for as long as we can.  So much hinges on the support from our donors and partners.  The list of contributors is long, includes people of all socio-economic backgrounds and also includes people who have experienced a time of temporary need for assistance in the past themselves.  There are so many good people who want to be part of the solution and shine a light at the end of a dark tunnel that many are in right now.  It is our honor and pleasure to facilitate the “light”.
